Photosynthesis and Respiration
Photosynthesis
is how plants make food for themselves and for the rest of us!
Respiration is how animals and other organisms break down food to release
energy that cells can use! This special energy is called ATP!
Photosynthesis and Respiration Video Games, Virtual Labs & Activities
Respiration Interactive (and Video Tutorials)
Learn
about cellular respiration, the process by which cells make ATP (cell
energy)! Explore the stages of aerobic respiration with video
tutorials, and then perform each stage yourself and check your
understanding. Glycolysis, the link reaction, the Krebs cycle, and the
electron transport chain await!
Molecular Models of Photosynthesis and Respiration
Build
molecular models that illustrate key principles of energy transfer through
the chemical reactions of photosynthesis and respiration. Also,
use a model to show how carbohydrates can be used to build other important
biomolecules. This activity was designed for the Next
Generation Science Standards (NGSS), specifically HS-LS1-5, HS-LS1-6, and
HS-LS1-7 (From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes).
Photosynthesis Interactive!
Learn
how photosynthesis works by performing the light-dependent reactions and the
Calvin cycle yourself. It this interactive, the biochemistry of
photosynthesis comes alive! Also, learn about the anatomy of the leaf
and where exactly the reactions of photosynthesis take place.
Photosynthesis Respiration Game!
Jump
to collect oxygen and glucose to keep the man alive through respiration!
Then collect carbon dioxide and water to help the tree do photosynthesis!
Don’t fall off the screen and watch out for enemy hermit crabs and jumping
fish! By the time your done, you’ll be an expert on the basics of
photosynthesis and respiration!
Photosynthesis and Respiration Quizzes
Test
your knowledge of photosynthesis and respiration! These quizzes can be submitted online to
your registered teacher. Please note: A quiz will not end
until you have successfully answered all questions.
